my first roto-moulder! found @designboom

Isn't this a fabulous idea? Back in 2008 the guys from MyFirst presented a prototype of a roto-moulding machine they had built to explore and get a deeper understanding of the process. They have taken further the idea designing and manufacturing a beautiful roto-moulding machine that comes flat packed and ready for you to start discovering the potentials of resins and moulds.

the Brant lamp, wonderful chemical experiment @davidderksen

A lace is impregnated in a solution made of water, Yttrium Nitrate, Magnesium Nitrate and Cerium Nitrate. The solution reacts with Ammonium
Hydroxide and form crystals in the fabric. The lace is then fired and in this process the fabric burns away leaving the crystals structure with the form of the fabric. The results is a mantle that glows over and over in the gasflame. Pure beauty, I would love to see it becoming an industrial product.
